NOT ENOUGH WATER TO SAIL TO VIENNA, AUSTRIA!

We boarded our Viking Tour bus and drove the 45 miles to Vienna, Austria for the day (as there was not enough water in the Danube River to sail)!  Upon arrival, a local guide hopped on our bus and narrated as we drove around the beautiful city of Vienna!  We drove along Ring Road and passed by the Vienna State Opera House; the Court Garden of the Imperial Palace; Parliament; the People’s Garden (with 400 different varieties of roses); City Hall (totally looked like an ancient Gothic-style church); the Neo Gothic Votive Church; Old Town; the oldest Ferris Wheel in the world; City Park; Natural History Museum; and the Vienna Opera House….to name a few!  

I tried my hardest, but it was TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE to get good photos while on a moving bus!  And it seemed like I was ALWAYS sitting on the wrong side!!!

After the driving tour was over, we stopped and got off the bus, and began our walking tour!  Oh, the sights we saw along the streets of beautiful Vienna!

Our tour ended in St. Stephen’s Square (a vibrant section of the city), so we decided to go inside St. Stephen’s Cathedral.  It was absolutely stunning!

Jan, Flat Mary and I went up the North Tower for the amazing views!  (Jan and I decided to take the elevator; Flat Mary opted to take the steps, of course!😜)

As promised, the views were spectacular!  Flat Mary arrived, just in time for a photo together! 

Back down the steps we went to join up with the boys.

We wanted to try an infamous kaiserschmarrn, but opted to find a place for lunch instead!

St. Stephen’s Square, we ❤️❤️❤️❤️ you!

Down a small street off the square, we found a tiny cafe that our tour guide told us about.  It was a place where the locals went!

Flat Mary was happy she was with us!

Flat Mary decided that she much preferred the local beer over what is served in the US!

We all enjoyed a delicious lunch at the adorable street side cafe!

We continued walking around the square, visited some chocolate shops (and made some purchases),

before heading back to the boat for a bit of relaxation!  John and I were thrilled with what we saw today!  (It was totally different from where we went and what we saw three years ago!)

We met up for cocktails with Joe and Scho,

where we learned the logistics of changing boats in the morning!  As always, Viking has done a wonderful job at meeting challenges head on!  (Thank you, Viking!)

We had our last dinner on the Aegir and will board the Embla tomorrow after we spend the day in Krems, Austria.  We were told that the boats were exactly the same and that we will have the identical room and room number.  The only difference will be the Viking personnel on board!

Back to our rooms we went to pack our bags and get ready for tomorrow’s adventure!  Good night all!  Steve, we missed you!  Flat Mary, have you recovered from your climb up St. Stephen’s?
